Steve Biko Housing Association is a small BME Housing Association based in Liverpool. We operate in the Liverpool area and are based in the remarkably diverse, multi-cultural area of Toxteth Liverpool 8. Founded as a direct consequence of race discrimination in housing policy and practice and so we exist to provide quality affordable homes and wider access to services to enable thriving multi-cultural communities.

As a BME Housing Association our Board is made up of 80% from a BME background. As part of our Board member succession plan, we are seeking to recruit new Board Members.

New Board Members

You will be joining a board that has gone through a period of renewal over the past several years.

We are looking for people who can operate at a strategic level, who are committed to making a difference within the neighbourhoods that we operate, have skills and experience of being a tenant with SBHA and/or in equalities and diversity practice, employment and skills and tenant involvement and community regeneration.  We are also specifically looking for board members that have skills and experience with repairs, maintenance and asset management and finance at a strategic level.

These positions will require a commitment to attend a minimum of 6 meetings per year, (normally 4.30pm-6.30pm) plus a day and a half development session as well as other training, attendance at ambassadorial, tenant and community engagement events as appropriate. These are non-remunerated positions but travel and out of pocket expenses will be covered.
